4.Can counselors employed by HUD-approved counseling agencies who have not attended HECM training take the HECM counselor exam and, if they achieve the qualifying score, be eligible for the HUD HECM Counselor Roster?
No. In order to register via FHA Connection, counselors will be required to show proof that they have attended HECM-related training within the last 2 years, in addition to passing the exam.
5. When I call Thomson Prometric to schedule my exam, they say they are not giving the HUD HECM Counselor Exam. What should I do?
When calling Thomson Prometric to schedule your exam, use the information on the Exam Authorization Letter you got when you registered. Be sure to have this Letter in front of you when you call, and use the exact words in the Letter to schedule your exam. For example, you must request the "Net 2" exam rather than the AARP exam, HECM exam, HUD exam, or Edgia exam.
6. Do you provide test-prep training for this exam?
No. Our consulting psychometrician (testing expert) has cautioned us against "teaching to the test" or providing exam-oriented assistance that is not generally available to everyone preparing to take the exam. The assistance we provide is the information on Basic Information, Exam Content, Sample Questions, and Study Materials in the Exam Guide on this site.
7. Where can a counselor get basic HECM training?
http://www.nw.org/network/training/training.asp
8. To pay for my exam I need a credit card. But I don't have one and neither does my agency. How can I pay for the exam? We are unable to accept or process purchase orders or send out invoices as part of this process. You must use a valid credit card to purchase an exam ticket and sit for the exam.
9. Can I get a copy of the exam or find out which questions I got wrong when I took the exam?
No. In order to maintain the test's security and validity for future examinees, we are not able to provide the test questions or give feedback on specific items. We also ask that you not share information about specific items with colleagues who may be taking the test in future; this is considered cheating.
